Don't believe these Mortgage Myths

  1. Everyone must have a 20% downpayment in order to purchase a home.
    This isn't true, as long as you have a history of paying your bills on time and a good credit score.

  2. Everyone must have a perfect credit score to qualify for a mortgage.
    This isn't true either. What's more important is that you aren't overextended or overloaded with debt - now, or after you get your mortgage.

  3. All Adjustable Rate Mortgages (ARMs) are bad.
    This is also not true. All ARMs offered by NEFCU have caps so you'll know in advance what your payments could eventually become. Depending on your circumstances, an ARM could help you to buy your first home.
